Mason's 9 and 10 month update!

Hey guys!

Sorry I haven't been on here updating my blog. I guess a lot has happened and I just lost track of everything. I am seriously thinking about getting a planner so I can keep things on track. Any suggestions on planners?

Mason is getting SOOOO BIG! I will now update you on his 9 month miles stones and the same for his 10 month and then I will be caught up before he turns 11 months old!!

Mason turned 9 months on June 3rd, 2014.  Mason weight was 21 lbs. and 29 1/2 inches long. He got his top two teeth. (total of four teeth now). They finally cut through when we flew out to California to visit my Grandmother who was ill in the hospital. This was Mason's 2nd air plane trip. He did great both times we flew. His first time traveling by plane was when he was 5 months old. :)  I was so grateful that it was a good experience flying with an infant. I look forward to visiting my family again soon.
Mason is still crawling, well an army style crawl. He doesn't have any interest doing it any other way. He loves playing in his walker. He loves food! At 9 months old we were trying rice cereal, bananas, sweet potatoes, apple sauce.
Mason is still the happy little guy he has always been. He is very easy going, quite. He is just a go with the flow kind of baby.

My mom holding Mason up so he can see his Great, Great Grandma. (Grandma GG) while she was in the hospital. She woke up from a 2 day coma.   I was blessed to see her awake.

Mason & Michael playing together. Michael is my nephew who was born in July, 2013. 2 months apart.

Mommy & Baby relaxing in the pool.

Mason's first dip in the pool at grandma & grandpas house in California.
Being such a silly boy in his new Mama's little cub shirt.

Our son Trent doing what he loves. FARMING! :)
We got back home to the farm life and he is taking a nap on the job. Being 9 months old is tough! (:

Off to his 10 month update....

Mason is currently 10 months old. 2 weeks ago, I had a huge scare with him that needed medical attention. Mason was playing on the floor on his blanket playing with his toys, right below me as I was sitting on the couch watching the news. I heard him coughing and gagging a little. I thought he was just choking on his spit since he is drooling a lot more. Well, he kept  gagging, I put him on my lap to see what was going on. I didn't see anything in his mouth. I was getting a little more concerned with his gagging so I took him to the bathroom for some more light. I sat him on the counter and opened his mouth wide, to find a piece of paper in the back of his throat. I grabbed him off the counter fast, I sat on the toilet and laid him on his tummy, head down and I started to pat his back. Of course he started crying and I was trying so hard not to panic. He was still gagging. I reached my fingers in his mouth and I  did this "hooking thing" with my finger and I was able to pull it out. It was a bar code sticker from something we purchased. I have no idea where it came from. I was so relieved that I was able to get in that far to pull it out.
I did take him in to see his doctor because I was nervous about the patting I did on his back to get him to cough it up. I also wanted to make sure his throat was okay, since there was blood on the sticker when I pulled it out.
But everything was okay with Mason. His doctor said his lungs sound great and that he might have a little bit of a sore throat.

I am currently signed up in September to get a CPR licenses. It will be good for 2 years. It has been since 2005, since I had CPR training. I want to be able to be updated and to stay educated if I ever find myself in this position again. I hope not, but you just never know.

Other then that. Mason is very healthy. He is smiling & laughing lot's more. His favorite foods are those food pouches. He sucks the food right out of there!! :) He likes to pull himself up to stand. He still does his army crawl, but it is so much faster. He has strong arms! He really wants to get up and walk. He has really good balance. It's only a matter of time before he is walking. He loves to chase me in his walker. It's so funny seeing him in his walker and is able to get around. I remember the first time putting him in his walker, he was so small and not tall enough for his feet to touch the ground so we had to put blankets under his feet and around his waist. Time sure does fly by fast. He will be turning 11 months old  in 14 days. WOW! He's almost one!

Well that's all I have to say for now. I am so happy to be updated on his mile stones. See you next month!

Mason's 1st 4th of July! He was pretty excited. (can you tell) :)

My two lovely boys!

We had a nice family trip to the Minnesota Zoo!

My baby boy is 8 months old!

Mason your growing up so fast! Where is the time going??

Mason is a little worm on the floor. He is not crawling just yet, but he is almost there. He’s beginning to get the hang of moving one knee forward in conjunction with the appropriate arm. Right now he is able to move his body in full circles depending on where he wants to go.

Even though he can't crawl, he manages to roll & wiggle his way to get into everything!

When I turn my head for one second while he is playing on his play mat, he will be somewhere else on the floor or by my feet playing with the computer cord while I'm using the laptop! Boy! I gotta start baby proofing my house!

His first tooth finally came in. Some nights were really bad for him. He would want to comfort nurse all night long! Poor little guy! :(
But now he looks so cute when he smiles and you see his only tooth. :)

I'm dreading the others that are soon to come!

He can sit up and clap his hands. When he get's really excited he starts waving his hands up and down really fast. It's so funny to watch!

I love hearing him talk. He makes all kinds of baby talk. Like Mmmmmaa mama, dada, bah bah! So cute!

He loves:

Watching Mickey Mouse Club House
The sound of paper
Looking at pictures in books
Chewing on everything
Playing with his big brother

Does not like:

Loud noises like the drill, cars toys that make noise,
action movies that have really loud noises.

He doesn't like it when I leave the room. He cries and screams for me to come back.

Pears

I'm in love with this picture!

I love his smile! :)

Mason's first time on a swing! He loved it!

My house smells like Fall...

I know it's SPRING where most of you are from. But, for the people that live in Wisconsin. Well, let's just say we're still getting the "S" word..(SNOW!!)
SO, with that being said. My family and I are observing Days of Unleavened Bread. We go without eating things that have leavening agents in them for seven days!

As I was digging around my cupboards to see what I could make today, I came across a can of pumpkin that I purchased from Thanksgiving last year. So I decided to make pumpkin bars.

As the pumpkin bars were baking in the oven. I was reminded of Fall. The smell of the pumpkin, cinnamon and vanilla were following through my house. It smelled so goooood! Like really good! Fall is my favorite season. I'll enjoy eating anything that calls for pumpkin all year round! :)

Back to the baking...

I was really surprised how good they came out without any baking soda or baking powder in them. The flavor and texture is very similar to eating a pumpkin pie without the crust.
I tried searching unleavened pumpkin bar recipes. But could only find recipes that called for leaving agents in them. So, I just figured I'll play around in the kitchen today and make up my own recipe.

I am very happy what I came up with and I decided to whip up some cream cheese frosting to add some extra goodness and topped it off with some sliced almonds.

YUM-EEE!!!

Gather the good stuff:

2 cups of flour
1 1/2 cups of Sugar
2 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Sprinkle of  Salt
4 eggs
1 can of Pumpkin (15 ounces)
1 cup Vegetable oil

Pre-heat your oven to 350* degrees.

Bake in a cooking sheet, (You can use parchment paper if you like but don't have to do this. I just find that it helps a lot easier to get the bars out of the pan.)

Mix all the dry ingredients. Stir in the eggs, pumpkin, vanilla and oil and mix thoroughly.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Cool the pumpkin bars completely before adding frosting!

While the bars are cooling..

Gather your stuff to make the cream cheese frosting:

1-8 ounce package of cream cheese (softened)
1 stick of butter (softened)
2 teaspoons vanilla
6 cups of powdered sugar

With a electric mixer, beat the cream cheese, butter, and the vanilla. Slowly add the powdered sugar while mixing.

Now the fun part:

Schemer the frosting over your cooled bars & add slice almonds!

Enjoy!
